All About Chaga; The King of the Mushrooms!

Chaga is an antioxidant-dense superfood derived from a form of mushroom that grows on birch trees.

It is a unique and complex nutritional supplement linked to auto-immune boosting benefits.

The Chaga mushroom is renowned for its high levels of antioxidants, beta-glucans, phytonutrients, polysaccharides, minerals and vitamins. This unusual form of mushroom has been used for centuries by Indigenous Peoples to remedy a wide range of ailments and as powerful health support.

In addition to immune-boosting benefits… it has been shown that it may play a part in inflammation control, blood sugar and cholesterol management, healthier skin, hair and nails and as a calming adaptogen!

Chaga also absorb a unique and beneficial compound from their birch tree hosts, called betulinic acid. Betulinic acid is an oxidation product of betulin, (a triterpenoid), believed to have potent antibacterial and anti-viral properties.

Chaga has been used as a remedy for seasonal illnesses such as flu, cold and other viruses. Taken at the onset of such illnesses it can reduce the length and severity of their symptoms.

Unlike most mushrooms, Chaga grows over several years and can be 15 to 25 years old when harvested. Chaga looks similar to and is often mistaken for a burl or knot on a tree. The experienced recognize it on birch trees by its hard black exterior that appears almost charred or burnt. The inside is an orange colour with a slightly cork-like but hard texture.

When Chaga is hand-processed into small pieces and simmered slowly to release its properties, it can be enjoyed as a tear made into a tincture.

**We do not recommend using chaga products without consulting a qualified health care provider first. Yes, it's THAT amazingly powerful!
